Every summon materia — where it comes from, the Divine Intel shrines that tame it, what it does on the field, and the fights it’s actually for.
A summon rides along as a temporary fourth party member, acting on its own while you feed it commands with your ATB.
Best value: summon into a stagger you set up, dump ATB on its big ability, and let the ultimate land while the target’s damage multiplier is still up. The materia’s passive stat bonus applies whether or not you ever summon it — so a well-chosen summon materia is also just a stat stick.
| The fight | Reach for |
|---|---|
| Raw single-target damage | Bahamut Arisen, then Alexander or Gilgamesh |
| Weakness unknown or mixed | Kujata (three elements at once) or Titan (non-elemental, always lands) |
| You need healing and a safety net | Phoenix — heals on Rebirth Flame, ultimate leaves Reraise on the party |
| Huge-HP hunt or trash mob (not a boss) | Odin — fill the gauge fast for Zantetsuken’s execute |
| Enemy resists physical | Titan or Alexander — both hit non-elemental |
| Magic-focused party | Leviathan, Shiva, Phoenix — their materia buffs Magic |
| Early game, no Chadley summons yet | Ifrit / Shiva / Chocobo & Moogle by the target’s weakness |
| Just need extra stagger pressure | Moogle Trio — cheap, and Kupo Valse staggers |
Six regions each hide three Divine Intel tied to that region’s Chadley summon: Grasslands → Titan, Junon → Phoenix, Corel → Alexander, Gongaga → Kujata, Cosmo Canyon → Bahamut Arisen, Nibel → Odin. Eighteen in all.
Each one you activate does three things:
The reward for the VR fight is identical at every difficulty. There is no bonus for beating a summon at full power — so always clear all three shrines first, then fight it on the easiest setting. Chadley flags the shrine locations on your map as you scan the region’s other intel.
